Chance Creger: Ashland Youth Hockey Coaching

This last week Northland College Hockey had the opportunity to coach the U8 and U12 teams from the local youth hockey program in town. Being involved with the community here in Ashland and continuing to coach while I'm at college was something I wanted to do as soon as I committed here. Hockey here in Ashland really is a community effort, kids from the U8s receive donated gear so that they can try hockey without making a huge financial commitment. This is a great opportunity for our team and being able to coach young kids is always enjoyable. The camp will continue to throughout the month on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the Defense and Forwards will trade off weeks so the whole team can participate.

The chemistry of the team is really coming together, its great to get to know the guys in the classroom along with at the rink and gym. Captain Skates and Morning Workouts started this past week and are going really well. I have been able to knock some of the rust off and continue preparing for the season. Our first game will be on October 31st at Adrian.
